Get to Know Anthony Cirranello, Jr.

Anthony Cirranello, Jr., Esq. is a native New Yorker, raised in Brodheadsville, PA. A four-year class president and graduate of Pleasant Valley High School (2006), Anthony received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (2010) in Philadelphia, PA, with a double major in political science and psychology. In 2018, Anthony graduated cum laude from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, OH, where he served as president of the CWRU Law Student Bar Association. He is the older brother of current Monroe County Sheriff, Nick Cirranello.

Anthony primarily practices in the areas of constitutional law, labor and employment law, and municipal law, with a focus on First Amendment/free speech violations, LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, prisoners’ rights, employment discrimination, and civil suits for victims of sexual harassment and abuse.

Anthony’s prior work aimed at addressing civil rights violations and advocating for justice alongside America’s systemically disenfranchised communities. In 2018, as a legal intern, he successfully enjoined the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections from enforcing a discriminatory grooming policy, in violation of Rastafarian inmates’ religious freedoms. Other notable work includes obtaining relief for civilians harmed by state actors during the Black Lives Movement, and successfully procuring dispositive evidence via public records requests for victims assaulted while in state custody.

In his spare time, Anthony is currently developing theory for mathematical applications of set theory, logic, science, equality (algebra), fairness (game theory), care (medicine), and statistics to the law. When he’s not at work, Anthony spends his time making new friends, laughing, playing video games and boardgames, strumming the ukulele, speaking Italian, enduring yoga, singing, dancing, sci-fi/fantasy film and television, and supporting local drag/LGBTQ+ artists, performers, and community events.
